New York.- Iran’s permanent representative to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, demanded this Friday that the organization stop the attacks by the United States (U.S.) and threatened not to comply with the agreement signed in June if Washington does not do so.
Iravani asserted that the recent U.S. attacks go against the United Nations Charter, and therefore, in his view, the UN must respond.
“They must take effective and decisive measures to stop the illegal act of U.S. aggression. They must prevent any further escalation,” he asserted at the doors of the Security Council.
Furthermore, the Iranian ambassador stressed that the UN must ensure that Washington “fully complies with its obligations and is held accountable for its aggression.”
The U.S. resumed its offensive against Tehran a few days ago in response to the Iranian attack on two cargo ships in the Strait of Hormuz, which Washington considered a violation of the memorandum of understanding signed on June 17.

Irvavani claimed today that the responsibility for the Strait of Hormuz lies “exclusively” with his country and warned that any interference “will jeopardize maritime security and increase regional tensions.”
“Iran remains committed to the faithful implementation of the memorandum of understanding, provided that the U.S. fully and faithfully complies with its obligations. However, if it continues to violate its obligations under the memorandum, Iran will no longer be bound to comply with its own,” he stated.
After two days of attacks, U.S. President Donald Trump declared the ceasefire agreement over and rejected further talks with Iran.
However, this Friday Trump reported that Washington will maintain negotiations with Tehran to end the conflict, but without a truce.
