Israel recorded at least one death and 303 injuries in less than 24 hours on Sunday, according to the latest report from the Israeli Ministry of Health, while Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah militias intensified their bombing campaign against Israeli territory, including a cluster missile attack on Tel Aviv that left 15 injured. The resurgence of the attacks began late Saturday afternoon as a direct reprisal following a US bombing of the Natanz uranium enrichment center in Iran. As night fell, Iran responded with a large-scale attack against Dimona, location of the main Israeli nuclear facilities, and against the city of Arad, in the south of the country. Iranian missiles hit both locations in what appears to have been a failure of Israeli anti-aircraft systems. The Armed Forces reported that they are investigating why the defenses failed to intercept the ballistic missile over Dimona, where there was a defensive response but it was not enough to stop the attack.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged that it was “a very difficult afternoon” and spoke with the mayor of Arad, Yair Maayan, to whom he promised “all the necessary assistance” at the governmental level.
Among the most serious incidents on Sunday was a ballistic missile attack on Tel Aviv carrying a cluster bomb warhead, dispersing submunitions over a wide area of the city.
