Santo Domingo. – The Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED), Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, stated that the housing policy promoted by the government of President Luis Abinader maintains a sustained pace of execution, with nearly 900 apartments delivered during the first semester of 2026 and more than 4,000 housing units scheduled for the coming months.
During an interview on a program hosted by journalist Pablo McKinney, the minister explained that these results are possible thanks to the operation of housing programs promoted by the Government, as well as the measures adopted to expand access to low-cost housing, including the updating of price caps for affordable housing.
“The plan and the entire structure of the trust are working. This year we have delivered nearly 900 apartments and we have about 4,000 more on the agenda. Just on August 8th, we will be delivering around 170 apartments in Hato del Yaque,” noted Bisonó.
The head of the MIVHED indicated that the institution maintains a delivery schedule that will continue to be developed during the second half of the year, as part of the strategy to reduce the housing deficit and facilitate access to decent, own housing for more Dominican families.
During the conversation, Bisonó also addressed the technical processes developed by the ministry to guarantee the safety and quality of public and private buildings.

Likewise, he reported that the country is in the final phase of updating the Dominican Seismic Code, an instrument that will strengthen the design and construction standards for buildings, incorporating new technical criteria and materials in line with the evolution of engineering and international regulations.
