Amaury Sánchez highlights the legacy of Olga Bucarelli and announces progress in artistic training

Santo Domingo.- The Vice Minister of Culture, Amaury Sánchez, highlighted this Friday the legacy of Dominican actress Olga Bucarelli as a benchmark for new generations of artists, during the tribute held within the framework of the ninth edition of the National Theater Festival (Fenate) 2026.
Sánchez defined Bucarelli as an example of dedication to the theater, highlighting his decades-long career on the stage and his participation in numerous representative works of the Dominican performing arts.
“Olga is an example of an entire life dedicated to the theater, when the theater is a machine of imaginations and dreams that come true through a stage, when one wants to be an artist and achieves it over decades,” expressed the official, who considered that her artistic journey constitutes an inspiration for those who wish to venture professionally into this discipline.
Likewise, the musical director also pointed out that theater transcends the performance of stories on a stage, describing it as a mirror of society and a reflection of cultural identity, where creativity, dreams, and artistic expressions converge.
Amaury Sánchez states that Culture is working to strengthen artistic training
The renowned orchestra conductor referred to the challenges facing Dominican theater. After Bucarelli called for increased support for the sector during the festival’s opening, Sánchez assured that the Ministry of Culture is working to strengthen artistic training in the country.
In that sense, he explained that, from the Vice Ministry of Creativity and Artistic Training, efforts are being developed aimed at strengthening and transforming the Fine Arts schools in their four disciplines: dance, dramatic art, music, and visual arts.
The official announced that an initiative will soon be unveiled which, as he indicated, will represent an advancement in artistic education, although he specified that the details will be announced by the Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo.
Sánchez maintained that a more solid and professional artistic training can contribute to improving job opportunities and working conditions for Dominican artists.

Finally, he acknowledged that art requires permanent backing and stated that the Ministry of Culture continues to work to expand support for the various artistic disciplines, with the purpose of boosting their development and opening new opportunities for emerging generations.
