The mayor pointed out that one of the main difficulties lies in the nature of the fire, which remains active in deep areas of the solid waste deposit, complicating extinction efforts and prolonging the time needed to extinguish it completely.

The situation has caused concern among the inhabitants of Jarabacoa, who have reported the constant presence of smoke in different sectors of the municipality and have expressed concern about possible effects on health and air quality.

Given the situation, the official reiterated the call to the competent authorities to strengthen the necessary technical and logistical support to allow for a more effective response to the emergency.

Likewise, he highlighted the importance of advancing sustainable solutions for solid waste management, in order to prevent similar situations in the future and ensure better environmental management in the municipality.

Efforts to control the fire continue as authorities evaluate new measures to mitigate its effects and restore normal conditions in the affected area.
