Santo Domingo.- Juan Garrigó Mejía was elected this Sunday as secretary general of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), during the National Assembly of Delegates of that political organization.

Garrigó Mejía, who serves as Vice Minister of Social and Community Management at the Ministry of the Presidency, will occupy the General Secretariat during the party’s new leadership term.

Their election took place through a single slate approved by acclamation by the delegates participating in the assembly, in which other positions of the PRM’s national structure were also defined.

The activity is part of the XXIV Ordinary National Convention “Orlando Jorge Mera”, a process through which the organization renewed its main national authorities.

The new party leadership was defined through a consensus process among its main leaders and will be responsible for leading the PRM during a new stage of internal reorganization and preparation for the upcoming political processes.
