The Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes will be one of the main protagonists of the next edition of Premio Lo Nuestro 2026, where he will receive the Premio Lo Nuestro to the Trajectory for his more than three decades of artistic career. The recognition celebrates a musical work that has transcended borders, genres and generations, consolidating him as one of the most influential figures in contemporary Latin music. Upon leaving the event rehearsals, the interpreter spoke with De Último Minuto, prior to what he described as a “grand presentation,” in which he will perform some of the most emblematic hits from his repertoire. During the interview, the singer did not hide his emotion upon learning that it was a Dominican Republic media outlet. Moved, he expressed the special affection he feels for the Caribbean country and the gratitude he feels for receiving the recognition in this context. “Oh, I love your country very much, I love it, I am fascinated by it, the truth is something incredible,” he said. Juanes added: “I am very grateful to Premio Lo Nuestro, to Univision. It means… I don’t know how to look back and look at this crazy teenager who had so many dreams and look where I am today. It’s like a very long journey, but I’m still somehow that kid who thinks and dreams about music. So I live very grateful and celebrating it here is spectacular”.

The artist highlighted that this award represents not only a professional achievement, but also a confirmation of the bond built with the public over the years. From his beginnings to becoming an international figure, he has carried messages of identity, sensitivity, and social awareness to stages around the world, building a constant bridge between his Latin American essence and global audiences. When referring to his legacy and how he would like to be remembered, the Colombian was clear in pointing out that his most valuable heritage is in his musical work. “My songs, because tomorrow this physical body will disappear, it remains in the water or in the earth, in a little tree, I don’t know where it will remain, but in music it remains there until humanity exists and that is all my legacy”, he expressed with serenity.Before leaving, he dedicated a direct message to the Dominican public, reaffirming the affection he feels for the country: “And Dominican Republic, I adore you with all my soul, I love you very much and I hope to see you soon”.
