Kelvin Cruz unveils ambitious sports plan for 2026 in historic meeting with Dominican sports reporters

Santo Domingo, R.D. – In a meeting described as transcendental for the future of Dominican sports, the Minister of Sports, engineer Kelvin Cruz, presented in detail the general plan of sports and recreational activities for the year 2026, to representatives of the main media outlets, sports journalists and leaders of the national chronicle.

The meeting, held in a renowned hotel in the capital, served as a space for dialogue, transparency and projection, where an ambitious agenda was consolidated that will place Dominican sports at the center of national and international attention throughout the year. Minister Cruz was accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Sports, as well as executives from different federations and sports organizations, who answered questions from the press and supported the strategic vision and high social impact of the new calendar. “This plan is the result of coordinated work between the different sports disciplines and a clear demonstration that Dominican sport is prepared to transcend, not only in competition, but also as an agent of well-being, health, social cohesion and international projection,” Cruz expressed at the beginning of the presentation.

Un calendario deportivo para todos

La programación presentada estructurará el deporte dominicano alrededor de una serie de eventos que abarcan desde competencias de base hasta grandes festivales internacionales, atrayendo a miles de atletas, entrenadores, dirigentes y fanáticos.

1. Juegos de la Mujer

19 al 22 de marzo de 2026

El ciclo competitivo iniciará con los Juegos de la Mujer, consolidados como una plataforma de empoderamiento femenino en el deporte. Esta justa promueve la participación de atletas en múltiples disciplinas y visibiliza el talento, la dedicación y la equidad de género en el deporte nacional.

2. Juegos de Semana Santa

30 de marzo al 4 de abril de 2026

Este evento reunirá a atletas de distintas edades, fomentando la sana convivencia familiar, la cultura deportiva y la integración comunitaria durante una de las temporadas más significativas del país.

3. Juegos Juan Pablo Duarte en Nueva York

6 al 14 de junio de 2026

Como parte de una estrategia para fortalecer los vínculos con la diáspora dominicana, estos juegos reunirán a atletas residentes en el exterior, promoviendo la identidad, el orgullo patrio y la integración deportiva internacional.

4. Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe Santo Domingo 2026

24 de julio al 8 de agosto de 2026

La joya del calendario será la celebración de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, el evento multideportivo más importante de la región, con la participación de atletas de más de 30 países, marcando un hito en la historia deportiva nacional.

5. Juegos Fronterizos

19 al 22 de agosto de 2026

Regresan para fortalecer la competencia entre provincias fronterizas, promoviendo la cooperación, la hermandad y el desarrollo socio-deportivo en zonas estratégicas del país.

6. Juegos Universitarios

20 de septiembre al 2 de octubre de 2026

Servirán como plataforma para el talento emergente de las instituciones de educación superior, proyectando a futuras figuras del deporte nacional.

7. Día Nacional de los Clubes

9 de octubre de 2026

Una jornada dedicada a reconocer el rol esencial de los clubes deportivos en la formación de atletas y el fortalecimiento comunitario.

8. Día Nacional del Deporte

7 de noviembre de 2026

Celebración que reafirma el deporte como herramienta de desarrollo integral, inclusión social y educación en valores.

9. Juegos Juan Pablo Duarte en Puerto Rico

Noviembre de 2026

El calendario cerrará con la segunda edición de estos juegos, reafirmando el compromiso con la diáspora dominicana y la proyección internacional del talento nacional.

A strategic vision with social impact
