Kevin Wai: “I don’t want royalties,” he told Bulin 47 after asserting that he only wanted to record “Dame Hombro”

The Colombian artist Kevin Wai stated that he told the Dominican performer Bulin 47 that he did not wish to receive royalties for the song “Dame Hombro”, as he considered that he was receiving a great opportunity.
“I don’t want royalties, if you are already giving me a huge opportunity. I’m not thinking about royalties, what I’m thinking about is making the song ‘Dame Hombro’, and I will be happy”, stated the emerging artist.
During an interview with disc jockey and broadcaster DJ Metro El Iluminado, Wai stated that the Dominican told him that he was once deceived, so he would not want him to go through the same situation.
“No, I was deceived one day, I don’t want you to go through that,” stated Bulin 47 during the conversation described by the Colombian.
Kevin Wai ensures he didn’t think about money after musical opportunity
The Colombian artist also assured that, after receiving the opportunity to collaborate with the Dominican exponent Bulin 47 on the track “Dame Hombro”, he set aside any financial interest and focused on taking advantage of the moment to boost his musical career.
During his statements, Wai explained that he had no knowledge of royalties or distribution agreements (splits), so he preferred that he offer him whatever he considered fair from the heart.
“Hey, Bulin, whatever comes from your heart. I don’t know about that, I don’t know about splits, I don’t know anything about that. All I know is how to record and upload my content,” the Colombian expressed.
Likewise, he confessed that the experience led him to disconnect from material concerns, to the point that he stated he had not had enough time to talk with his family.

“Ever since he told me that, I swear I haven’t thought about money, or women, or cash. What’s more, I haven’t even had time to talk properly with my family, because I detached myself from the material world,” he stated.
Kevin Wai also compared his attitude with that of other people who, upon receiving a similar opportunity, prioritize closing economic deals quickly due to their financial needs.
However, he stated that his approach has been different, as he has not been thinking about how much money he can get, but rather about the opportunity this collaboration represents for his artistic growth.
The track “Dame Hombro” was born spontaneously between Bulin 47 and Kevin Wai, following an improvisation that both performed at a restaurant in Madrid, Spain.
This collaboration has represented an important exposure platform for the Colombian artist, who sees in this union an opportunity to project his talent to new audiences and pave his way in the Dominican music industry.
