La Romana. – The Provincial Health Directorate of La Romana continues to develop intervention and prevention days in different sectors of the province, as part of the actions to protect the health of the families of La Romana.
The work is headed by the director of the entity, Dr. Carmen Jiménez, who, together with the work teams, maintains permanent operations aimed at the prevention of vector-borne diseases.
Through the team of the
Vector-Borne Disease Prevention and Control program and the Entomology area, brigades carried out interventions in various public roads and sectors of the city of La Romana.
Among the places intervened are:
- Francisco Castillo Márquez Street, Bancola and Río Salado sector
- Enriquillo Sector
- La Altagracia Street, in the central part of the city
- Héctor P. Quezada Street corner Dr. Teófilo Hernández, Mutualista sector
- Libertad Avenue, in the lower part of the city
- R. Paulino Street, El Hoyo sector
During these days, the brigades applied
larvicide in different locations with the aim of eliminating breeding grounds of the mosquito
Aedes aegypti, the main transmitter of dengue, and thus reinforce preventive measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
Health authorities reiterated the call to the population to collaborate by eliminating containers that accumulate water and keeping their surroundings clean, highlighting that community participation is key in the fight against dengue.
