Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, reported that the national blackout recorded this Monday occurred after the 138 Hainamosa– Villa Duarte transmission line left the interconnected electrical system. The official explained that the event occurred at 10:50 a.m. and the recovery protocols established by the Dominican Electric Transmission Company (ETED) were immediately activated. According to Santos, the country’s electricity generation was not affected, which allows for a progressive advance in the reintegration of loads to the system. He also said that a few hours after the incident, about 30% of the system had already been restored. The minister pointed out that the first stages of the restoration process are the most complex, but that the integration of the rest of the country accelerates afterwards.
