SANTO DOMINGO.- Dominican urban music also had its stellar moment at the opening ceremony of the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games. The artist Lomiiel took over the track at the “Félix Sánchez” Olympic Stadium with a performance full of rhythm, strength, and Dominican flavor.
Dressed entirely in black with white details, Lomiiel led a high-impact block accompanied by dozens of dancers dressed in blue. With synchronized choreography and high energy, the artist immediately connected with the thousands of people who packed the stadium and the millions who followed the broadcast.
The show took place on the stadium grass, with lights shifting from deep red to green and blue, creating an urban and festive atmosphere. Visuals that matched the rhythm were projected on the giant screen, while the audience lit up their cell phones and chanted every verse.
In an iconic moment of the presentation, a group of dancers dressed in white appeared on stage carrying gigantic red speakers, paying tribute to the neighborhood culture and the roots of urban music in the Dominican Republic.
“We are sancocho, of faith and hope; a people who strive, who work and never tire,” was heard in the stadium, reflecting the pride, joy, and hard work of the Dominican people that Lomiiel brought to the most important stage of regional sports.
