Main avenues of Greater Santo Domingo remain desolate on this “Christmas Eve”
Santo Domingo. – This December 24th, Christmas Eve Day, the population celebrates its customary family dinner, while the main avenues of Greater Santo Domingo remain desolate, empty and without the usual traffic jams that characterize each day and each night in the streets.
A team from De Último Minuto conducted a tour, where it was found that avenues such as 27 de Febrero, John F. Kennedy, Winston Churchill, among others, are not very busy and have a low flow of people. Similarly, in the neighborhoods, the presence of active units of the National Police could be seen, following up on the preventive operation for Christmas.
The Christmas Eve celebrations have meant a total change in some daily services. In that same vein, stations of the Metro of Santo Domingo closed their doors right on the Christmas Eve festivities this December 24, which has also caught the attention of some users who approach to make use of this service.
In that sense, it is worth noting that the Office for the Reordering of Transportation (OPRET) announced through its official Instagram account that for these Christmas celebrations there will be a special schedule for the operation of the Metro.
For December 24th and 31st, the service will be available from 5:30 AM to 8:00 PM, on December 25th and January 1st, 2026, it will be open from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
