María Trinidad Sánchez. The man identified by authorities as the primary suspect in the femicide of his ex-partner, Yissel Jiménez, was found dead this Tuesday afternoon in the municipal district of Payita, municipality of Cabrera, María Trinidad Sánchez province.
The deceased, identified only as Jovanny, was found hanging from a tree in an area near Playa Arroyo Salado, the same environment where the crime being investigated by the National Police occurred.
Since the murder of Yissel Jiménez, 28, which occurred on July 2nd while she was on her way to work, Jovanny had been actively sought by investigative agencies, as he was considered the main suspect in the case.
Following the discovery, members of the National Police arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area while awaiting the arrival of the medical examiner to carry out the removal of the body, in accordance with established protocol.

Subsequently, the body will be sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), based in San Francisco de Macorís, where the corresponding studies will be performed to officially determine the cause of death.
The case had generated great consternation in the Cabrera community and reignited the debate over violence against women in the country. With this new outcome, the authorities are closing the search for the main suspect, although they continue with the proceedings to complete the investigation.
