Santo Domingo. — Marc Anthony shared a curious anecdote about the music video for “No me ames”, the memorable duet he performed with Jennifer Lopez in 1999, and revealed that the idea for the production’s visual concept came from the singer herself.
During an interview with Billboard, in which he reviewed some of the most important moments of his artistic career, the salsa singer recalled with laughter the way Jennifer proposed the image that both would have in the video.
“That video was Jennifer’s idea. In the end, I thought: ‘Sure, that’s so like you.’ The worst makeup to make me look haggard and sick… and you are glowing,” commented Marc Anthony while recalling the characterization he used for the recording.
The artist explained that, although he took the decision with humor, the result ended up fitting the story they were looking to tell and helped give the music video its identity.

In addition, Marc Anthony recalled how the collaboration was born. As he recounted, Jennifer Lopez proposed finding a song to perform together and he presented a track that was originally in Italian, but was later adapted to become the successful duet that reached the public.

“I found the song, played it for her, she loved it, then we had to adapt it and it worked well. Everything fit perfectly,” the singer recalled.
Released in 1999, “No me ames” became one of the most iconic songs for both artists and remains one of the most remembered collaborations in Latin music.
