Washington .– Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony and the rap group The Roots, are among the dozen artists who will perform at the inauguration ceremony of the Obama Presidential Center, in the city of Chicago, a museum that covers the political and personal life of the first African American president of the United States.
The Obama Foundation announced this Tuesday that the opening ceremony, scheduled for June 18, will also feature performances by Bruce Springsteen, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, Common, Eddie Vedder, Tems, and U2 members Bono and The Edge.
Marc Anthony publicly supported Obama during his presidential campaigns, participated in events to mobilize the Latino vote, and took part in events related to his 2009 inauguration, which made him one of the most visible Latino figures linked to the then-president.
In the case of Christina Aguilera, the relationship was less political but indeed close to initiatives promoted by the White House, as the singer participated in community service activities and supported campaigns related to child nutrition promoted by Michelle Obama.

The event will be held in the complex’s John Lewis plaza and will bring together leaders, artists, and activists to commemorate the opening of the center, conceived as a space to promote civic engagement and community leadership.
The opening to the public of the Obama Presidential Center, located on the South Side of Chicago, will be on June 19 and it includes a museum dedicated to the life and legacy of former President Barack Obama (2009-2017), as well as areas for exhibitions, educational programs, and community activities.
It will also be the first fully digital museum of its kind, leaving aside numerous exhibited official documents. Instead, visitors will be able to experience high-tech and interactive exhibits that cover the campaigns, key moments of the Obama presidency, and life in the White House.
