Matthew Perry’s assistant sentenced to three years and five months in prison for his death

Los Angeles.- Matthew Perry’s former personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, was sentenced this Wednesday by a Los Angeles judge to three years and five months in federal prison for injecting the ‘Friends’ star with several doses of ketamine, the drug that caused his death. The Justice determined that the accused must also serve two years of supervised probation and pay a fine of $10,000 to the U.S. Government, according to NBC News. Iwamasa confessed last August, after his arrest, to having been directly responsible for administering the doses of ketamine to the actor in his final weeks of life, even injecting him with the substance “repeatedly without medical training, including multiple injections” on the day of his death, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.

The accusation alleges that doctor Salvador Plasencia, one of the five implicated in the death of the American celebrity, instructed Iwamasa to “inject ketamine into Perry,” leaving him vials to self-administer without the proper safety equipment.
