Las Galeras.- The mayor of the Las Galeras Municipal District, Ana Reyes, formally inaugurated the Community Center in the La Codal sector, a project executed through the Municipal Participatory Budget, in compliance with the provisions of Law No. 176-07 of the National District and Municipalities, whose articles 236 to 239 promote the participation of communities in the identification, prioritization, and execution of investment projects with the greatest social impact.
The infrastructure was built with an approximate investment of RD$210,000 and is conceived as a space for holding meetings, training sessions, and cultural, educational, and social activities, strengthening community organization and the development of the sector.
During her speech, Mayor Ana Reyes stated that the delivery of this project reflects her administration’s commitment to citizen participation and community development, highlighting that she will continue to promote projects agreed upon with the residents, in accordance with the guidelines established in Law No. 176-07.

As part of the event, the Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Food (DASAC), represented by its national deputy director, Geraldo Vázquez, and the Presidential Commission for Neighborhood Development Support (CPADB), headed by its president, Rolfi Rojas, delivered the equipment that will furnish the new community center, addressing a request managed by Mayor Ana Reyes.
The donation included a refrigerator, stoves with ovens, fans, blenders, and plastic chairs, equipment that will allow for the proper functioning of the facilities and facilitate the holding of meetings, workshops, community events, and other activities for the benefit of the residents.
On behalf of the community, Carlos Mejía Vázquez, president of the La Solución Neighborhood Board, and Dr. Francisco Sandoval, president of the Las Galeras Neighborhood Board Bloc, expressed their gratitude for the execution of the project and highlighted that the residents of the sector had waited more than ten years for the construction of this community center, describing it as a historic achievement for La Codal.
The activity was also attended by Simeón Balbuena, advisor to the Neighborhood Board; council members Yudelka Almeida and Lenin King; as well as dozens of community members, who supported the inauguration of a project that responds to a long-standing demand.
With the inauguration of the La Codal Community Center and the delivery of its equipment, the City Hall of the Municipal District of Las Galeras, together with the central government, reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting initiatives that strengthen community organization, promote citizen participation, and improve the quality of life for families.
