Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Republic added a new gold medal at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, this time thanks to Saúl Leonardo Mena II, known worldwide as MenaRD, who made history by becoming the first Dominican to win a gold medal in an eSports discipline.
The 26-year-old Street Fighter world champion had an outstanding performance in the tournament and defeated the representative from Panama to climb to the top of the podium and give the Dominican Republic its first gold in esports at a Central American and Caribbean Games.
The victory consolidates MenaRD as one of the leading Dominican figures on the international esports stage and expands his career in a discipline that is increasingly gaining presence in major sporting competitions.
