Through the Uber Eats app, MSMEs can boost their sales, expanding the geographic reach of their services, advertise their products to more people, and streamline their operations through technology.

The head of the MICM, Yayo Sanz Lovatón, and the regional General Manager of Uber Eats for the Andean Region, Central America, and the Caribbean, Marco Nannipieri, formalized the agreement. Its purpose is to use the platform’s technological tools to promote the various initiatives, campaigns, and promotions of the Commercial Rounds for MSMEs that the MICM carries out.

In this way, MICM information regarding said rounds will have visibility on the digital platform. Likewise, Uber Eats will be present in the activities that the MICM develops within the geographical area in which Uber is available.

“This agreement constitutes a strategic alliance between the public and private sectors, which will positively impact sustainability in the development and competitiveness of MSMEs, as drivers of progress for Dominican society,” stated Minister Sanz Lovatón.

He also indicated that the agreement reinforces the commitment of both entities to promote the development of MSMEs, since digital platforms have become an essential infrastructure for modern commerce, facilitating interaction between producers, businesses, and consumers.

This is also part of President Luis Abinader’s vision to generate more opportunities for every Dominican entrepreneur through innovation and competitiveness.

“The Dominican Republic has a dynamic entrepreneurial community with great growth potential; in fact, 75% of the businesses associated with the app are MSMEs. Through this partnership, we reaffirm our commitment to continue promoting opportunities for them, facilitating their access to technological tools that allow them to grow, adapt to new market dynamics, and continue generating value for their communities,” stated Nannipieri.

The platform will offer a 10% discount on 1,500 Uber Flash deliveries to MSMEs referred by the MICM during the celebration of Commercial Rounds in 2026. In addition, it will send information to businesses registered on the Uber application regarding the MSME and WOMEN MSME Certification process granted by the MICM.

“It is the first time, in the Caribbean region, that we are doing something like this and we are very proud of this,” added Nannipieri, regional General Manager of Uber Eats, during the signing of the agreement.

Likewise, thanks to the agreement, new restaurants and businesses registered within 30 days after the Trade Rounds will receive two months of preferential service fees. Meanwhile, businesses other than restaurants will benefit from advertising credits.

The MICM MSME Trade Rounds are events held in different parts of the country. Their objective is to connect these companies with potential investors, suppliers, clients, and partners.
