Barahona.– Nine Haitian citizens who, according to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM), were in the country without the required documentation were arrested early this Friday while being transported in an SUV along the Cabral-La Lista highway, in the Barahona province.
The operation took place around 3:30 in the morning. Upon noticing the presence of the agents, the driver of the vehicle accelerated and fled, which triggered a chase through several streets of the Cabral municipality.
The authorities managed to stop the vehicle, a black Kia SUV, inside which six men and three women of Haitian nationality were found, who did not have the corresponding immigration documents.
The nine foreigners were transferred to the Jimaní border crossing to complete the repatriation process established by the authorities.
Meanwhile, the vehicle remained detained at the DGM’s Department of Migration Interdiction in Barahona, where it will be used for investigations related to the case.

The DGM reported that these types of interventions are part of the migration control operations and intelligence work that it carries out permanently in different parts of the national territory.
