The Minister of Women, Gloria Reyes, announced that this entity will conduct a consultation starting in April, to understand how men think, what they think, and what their expectations are in order to create an effective policy in the face of this new masculinity.
“Being a man is not easy, in Dominican society it is not easy, gentlemen, I often think about the young people who, to ask a girlfriend out, have to have the car, they have to have the money, there is a pressure that is exerted very strongly on young people,” indicated the minister.
He also explained that if we want equality, we have to talk about an equality of responsibilities.
“Why can’t you, as a woman, pay half of a restaurant bill?”, the minister questioned, arguing that it’s time to start addressing these issues clearly.
The statements were offered within the framework of the forum “Promipyme Mujer: Financial Inclusion and the Role of Women in Economic Growth”, in commemoration of International Women’s Day, held by the National Council for the Promotion and Support of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Promipyme).
