Monte Plata.– Authorities, academics, and representatives from various social sectors participated in the provincial meeting held in the auditorium of the UASD Monte Plata center, as part of the international launch of the Institute of the Future, a prospective think tank with a Latin American reach and global projection.
The activity was organized by Enrique de la Cruz, director of the Regional 17 Education Office; Werner Ramírez, director of the UASD Monte Plata Center; and Leordany Leocadio, head of technical support. During the event, the province connected in real time with the main ceremony held at the JW Marriott Hotel Santo Domingo, located in BlueMall, as well as with 39 other locations in the Dominican Republic, Latin America, the Caribbean, the United States, and Europe.
The Institute for the Future is an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit organization focused on foresight, anticipation, future studies, and strategic planning. Its goal is to promote research, training, and the generation of knowledge aimed at finding solutions to the main challenges of the present and the future.
During the broadcast, the president and founder of the entity, Dr. Roberto Fulcar, called on governments, universities, companies, and social organizations to strengthen planning capacity and leave improvisation behind, through trend analysis and the construction of long-term scenarios.
Fulcar highlighted that the future is built upon knowledge and collective decisions, under the institutional motto “The future is today”.

The day included the first edition of “Dialogues of the Future”, with the international panel “Foresight, Anticipation and Governance: the future of Latin America and the Caribbean”.
Representing Monte Plata were Juan Pablo Ortega, deputy director of Regional Education Office 17; municipal authorities, academics, community leaders, and representatives from public and private institutions and social organizations.
Attendees highlighted the creation of the Institute as an opportunity to boost planning, innovation, and cooperation between sectors. With its participation in this launch, Monte Plata became part of the entity’s international network, reaffirming its commitment to the generation of knowledge and the promotion of initiatives aimed at sustainable development and the well-being of future generations.
