MOPC Commission and Senator Lía Díaz conduct survey for asphalting of communities in Azua
Azua. – A commission from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) carried out a technical survey in several communities in the province of Azua, with a view to starting asphalt paving work as part of the National Asphalt Paving Plan being implemented by the Dominican Government to strengthen road infrastructure and local development.
During the day, the commission visited the community of Villa Corazón, in the municipal district of El Barro, where the asphalting of the Azua–Peralta road was evaluated, a road of great importance for connectivity, commerce, and the development of the area. Subsequently, the technical team moved to the municipality of Tábara Arriba, where several strategic points to be intervened were identified.
The tour also included the communities of Sajanoa, El 2-C, Guayacanal, the municipality of Pueblo Viejo and the municipal district of Clavellina, where the paving of the bridge connecting this community with Pueblo Viejo is contemplated, a work long demanded by the residents.
MOPC engineers reported that these interventions are carried out by instructions of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, and the Minister of Public Works, Eduardo Estrella, with the aim of improving the quality of life of the population through safer and more efficient roads.
From her side, the senator for the province of Azua, Lía Díaz, thanked President Abinader and Minister Estrella for including the province in this important paving plan, highlighting that it is a historical demand of the communities.
The authorities indicated that this corresponds to a first stage, and that a second phase will be developed later, which will allow the works to be extended to other areas of the province.
The commission was headed by Deputy Minister Fernández Taveras, along with Senator Lía Díaz and specialized technicians from the MOPC. Mayors and community leaders from the visited communities also participated in the tour.
