Santo Domingo.- Melania Rosa, a resident of the Villa Mercedes sector, Los Javillones, in San Cristóbal, came to De Último Minuto to report that both she and several members of her family have allegedly been the target of threats, harassment, and attempted assaults following an incident that occurred on June 6th in that area.

According to his account, he fears for the safety of his family members, especially his children, due to a series of situations that he claims have occurred since one of them was arrested in a case in which another person lost their life.

“I come to make a call to the authorities to protect us, because my children and I are in danger,” expressed Rosa during her report.

The woman explained that her son was detained for an incident that occurred in the Villa Mercedes sector, Los Javillones, and maintains that he acted in self-defense. According to her version, she has videos and other evidence that, she claims, show that the victim had approached where her son was and had fired several shots at him before the fatal outcome occurred.

Rosa clarified that she is not seeking for her son to evade the judicial process, but rather for justice to determine the corresponding responsibilities.

“I am not here so that my son can evade justice. What I am asking is for us to be left to live in peace and for the authorities to protect my family,” he stated.

The complainant stated that since the very day of the events they have received threats and that some of her relatives have allegedly been pursued and attacked. Among the reported incidents, she pointed out that one of her sons was allegedly shot at while trying to reach safety, and that another was reportedly targeted by gunfire in a separate incident.

Furthermore, he indicated that he filed a formal complaint with the authorities, in which he stated that he fears for his life and that of his family members. In the document, he holds individuals linked to the deceased’s family responsible for any situation that might happen to them.

According to the complaint, they also received a phone call from a person who allegedly posed as an investigating officer for the purpose of obtaining information about their location and that of their children.

Faced with this situation, Melania Rosa requested that the competent authorities reinforce her family’s security and ensure that the judicial process continues without any acts of retaliation.

People who wish to communicate with the complainant can do so by calling the phone number 829-602-0977.
