Motorcycle criminals assault woman in broad daylight in Santiago; vehicle thwarts their escape

Santiago.- Two alleged criminals riding a motorcycle assaulted a woman in broad daylight while she was walking on Salvador Cucurullo street, in this city, in an incident that occurred this Sunday at 11:35 in the morning and was captured by a security camera. In the images, the moment is observed when the individuals intercept the lady and strip her of her purse in a matter of seconds, taking advantage of the fact that the victim was walking alone on the road. After committing the assault, the men tried to leave the place hastily; however, during the escape they were hit by a white vehicle that was circulating in the area, which caused their escape to be momentarily frustrated. The incident has generated concern among residents of the sector, who claim that assaults perpetrated by criminals on motorcycles have become increasingly frequent in different parts of the city.

The case occurs just four days after the change in the Cibao Central Regional Directorate of the National Police, where General Juan Bautista Jiménez Reinoso was replaced by General Jesús R. Tejada Tejada. So far, authorities have not offered details about the identity or possible apprehension of those responsible for the act.
