Army thwarts illegal motorcycle crossing in Elías Piña

Elías Piña. – The Dominican Republic Army (ERD) reported that members of the 11th. Infantry Battalion “GPF” retained three motorcycles in the municipality of Bánica, Elías Piña province, after thwarting an attempt to illegally cross into Haitian territory. The incident was recorded in the sector known as Los Gajos alley, where a military patrol surprised three Haitian citizens who were traveling on motorcycles without license plates, allegedly with the intention of crossing the border. According to the official report, upon noticing the presence of the soldiers, the individuals fled, abandoning the vehicles at the scene.

The Haojin motorcycles, in black and gray with red colors, were seized by the authorities and transferred under custody to the Bánica detachment. Subsequently, they were sent to the La Estrelleta Fortress of the ERD for the corresponding legal procedures. The ERD reiterated that it will continue to reinforce surveillance and control operations in the border area, with the aim of preventing illicit activities and ensuring security in the region.
