Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi reported this Thursday that the Iranian authorities have “permanently” forbidden her from leaving the country and are not issuing her a passport to visit her two children, whom she has not seen for eleven years.
The human rights activist awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023 explained in a post on X that she requested the issuance of a passport to see her children, which has been denied because she has been permanently banned from leaving Iran.
“The Islamic Republic has issued and applied two types of exit bans, including the ‘permanent exit ban,'” he said on social media.

“They stamp the word ‘permanent’ on our sentences while they themselves fear every day the fall they will suffer at the hands of the people of Iran,” he said about the Iranian authorities.
In that same publication, she wished a happy 19th birthday to her twin children, Kiana and Ali, whom she has not seen for eleven years.
Mohammadi has been out of prison for a year, when she was released due to her medical problems.
The activist has been arrested thirteen times, convicted nine times, and was last imprisoned in 2021.
Despite condemnations and imprisonment, the human and women’s rights activist has continued to denounce human rights violations in Iran, including the application of the death penalty or violence against women who do not wear the Islamic veil.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the prestigious prize in 2023 to Mohammadi “for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and for promoting human rights and freedom for all.”
