Santo Domingo. — Ministers, directors general and other government representatives began arriving this Monday at the National Palace to participate in the Government Council meeting convened by President Luis Abinader.
The session is scheduled for 6:00 in the evening in the Government Council Hall and will be led by the head of state together with Vice President Raquel Peña.
So far, no details have been offered regarding the topics that will be addressed during the meeting. However, it is expected that the authorities will review matters related to government management and the monitoring of policies executed by the Executive Branch.
This meeting takes place after the Government reported in the last Council of Ministers on measures aimed at optimizing public spending in light of the economic effects derived from the international scenario, especially due to tensions in the Middle East.

On that occasion, the Director General of the Budget, José Rijo Presbot, indicated that the actions would allow for the availability of some RD$40 billion through adjustments in expenses considered non-priority, without compromising obligations assumed by the State.
Likewise, the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, pointed out that the increase in international oil prices represents one of the main challenges for the national economy, although he highlighted that the measures applied have helped to contain its effects.
