Santo Domingo.– The president of the People’s Force (FP), Leonel Fernández, swore in former Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) leader Omar Guevara as a new member of the political organization, during an event in which hundreds of leaders and supporters of the New Course with Leonel 2028 movement also joined.
Guevara, who was previously a member of the PLD’s Central Committee, arrived at the Fuerza del Pueblo accompanied by a political structure that, as he explained, seeks to strengthen the organization’s external sector ahead of the 2028 electoral process.
During the Great National Swearing-in Meeting of New Direction with Leonel 2028, Fernández administered the oath to Guevara and the new members who decided to join the political project.
The president of the Fuerza del Pueblo highlighted the magnitude of the incorporation and stated that Guevara did not join individually, but rather accompanied by leaders from different parts of the national territory.
“Today we have not only made a basket, today this is a dunk, a true dunk in Dominican politics,” expressed Fernández when assessing the arrival of the new group.
The former president added that Guevara “has not come alone to the People’s Force,” but is joining along with a structure that, in his view, represents a contribution both in quantity and in the preparation of its members.

“Today we are not only adding quantity, we are also adding quality,” stated Fernández.
Guevara: “I didn’t arrive alone”
Upon assuming his new responsibility within the organization, Omar Guevara stated that his decision to leave the PLD and join the Fuerza del Pueblo does not represent an individual move.
“I did not arrive alone, I arrived as president of Nuevo Rumbo to strengthen the external sector, to support Leonel Fernández, who will become the next president of the Dominican Republic,” he declared.
Guevara previously achieved the status of member of the PLD Central Committee with the support of more than 147 thousand votes. He also ran for deputy for constituency number 2 of the National District, where he obtained more than 5 thousand votes.

The New Direction with Leonel 2028 movement aims to develop political structures in different parts of the country and incorporate citizens and leaders from social, professional, community, and political sectors into Fernández’s project.
During the event, representatives from the women’s and youth sectors also spoke, expressing their support for the integration of new members and the growth of the political platform.
With the swearing-in of Guevara and the incorporation of his structure, the People’s Force adds new leaders to its external sector and continues to expand its political organization with a view to the 2028 elections.
