Santo Domingo.–The vice mayor of the Los Alcarrizos municipality, Felicia Santos Frías, left the ranks of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) and joined the People’s Force (FP) along with more than 300 people, including political and community leaders, merchants, professionals, and representatives from various sectors, during an event led by the organization’s president, Leonel Fernández.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Unión y Progreso Sports and Cultural Club (CUP), in Los Alcarrizos, as part of the political activities carried out by Fernández over the weekend in different municipalities of Greater Santo Domingo.
Among the people who accompanied Santos Frías are political and community leaders, merchants, professionals from different areas, health sector workers, transporters, and micro-entrepreneurs.
Felicia Santos explains departure from PRM
When referring to his decision, Santos Frías expressed his support for Fernández’s leadership and pointed out that his joining the Fuerza del Pueblo responds to his intention to participate in that organization’s political project.
The municipal official maintained that young people, women, and families in Los Alcarrizos are seeking alternatives in the face of the economic difficulties and lack of opportunities that, she claimed, they are currently facing.

Santos Frías also assured that her departure from the PRM and subsequent entry into the FP did not occur individually, because she will continue her political work accompanied by the team that was sworn in during the activity.

More than 300 people join the People’s Force
The deputy mayor of Los Alcarrizos joins the People’s Force (Fuerza del Pueblo) accompanied by more than 300 new members, according to the information provided during the meeting.

Among those sworn in are doctors, nurses, bioanalysts, psychologists, merchants, transporters, micro-entrepreneurs, and community representatives.

Leonel Fernández highlights incorporation
During his speech, Fernández valued the arrival of Santos Frías to the organization and maintained that his integration represents both an increase in members and the incorporation of leaders with professional and political experience.
The former president of the Republic highlighted that Santos Frías holds the vice-mayoralty of a municipality that, as he indicated, has around 350,000 inhabitants.
Fernández also referred to the professional background of the official, who is a medical specialist in Family and Community Medicine.

The leader announced that Santos Frías will be integrated into the Health Secretariat of the Fuerza del Pueblo, from where she will contribute her knowledge and experience.
Fernández proposes a health model based on prevention
When addressing the health issue, Fernández explained that a potential Fuerza del Pueblo administration would seek to strengthen disease prevention through primary care.
He indicated that the model would contemplate the participation of family doctors and social workers who visit homes to detect conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
According to your approach, this mechanism would allow for information on the health conditions of the population to be available and facilitate the supply of medicines and the corresponding care.
Fuerza del Pueblo continues swearing-in ceremonies
Following the activity in Los Alcarrizos, Fernández planned to continue his agenda this Saturday in Pedro Brand, where he would hold a meeting with representatives of productive and social sectors.
The schedule includes meetings with merchants, micro-entrepreneurs, transporters, professionals, community organizations, women, and youth, in addition to another swearing-in of new members of the People’s Force (Fuerza del Pueblo).
The activities will continue this Sunday, August 23, in Santo Domingo Este and the National District.
In El Almirante, Fernández is scheduled to visit a micro-entrepreneur and will subsequently lead another induction of members. Later, he will travel to Los Mina to participate in the swearing-in of youth from Constituency 2 and the launch of the Youth for Tomorrow (JOPAMA) movement.
The agenda will conclude at the Los Prados Club, in the National District, with another activity to welcome new members.
The incorporation of Santos Frías takes place within this swearing-in program, through which the opposition organization seeks to expand its structures with a view to the next 2028 electoral process.
