Luis Abinader led this Wednesday the official launch of the “Peace Guarantee Christmas 2.0” Operation, a massive national security deployment coordinated by the National Police, the Ministry of Interior and Police, and the Armed Forces, with the aim of ensuring peaceful, orderly, and crime-free festivities throughout the country.
During the event, held at the National Police Palace, the director general of the institution, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, highlighted that this operation will have 22,794 police officers and more than 5,000 military personnel, who will reinforce the presence in commercial areas, avenues, residential areas, transportation terminals and tourist destinations.
“Christmas represents a time of family union and hope. It is the duty of the National Police that every citizen can enjoy these festivities with a guarantee of security,” he expressed.

He indicated that the agents already have bodycams, taser guns, tonfas, handcuffs, pepper spray, regulation weapons and multi-purpose belts, in addition to a renewed uniform that reflects a new institutional mentality.
Faride Raful: “Peace is not decreed, it is built by everyone”
The Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful, also delivered a message at the launch, highlighting the results achieved in citizen security during 2024.
Raful reported that the country recorded a rate of 9.58 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants, the lowest figure in almost a decade, thanks to a sustained strategy from the Joint Task Force, where Police, Armed Forces and Public Ministry work in coordination.
The minister specified that in the last three years the homicide rate decreased by 32%, and that currently 28 provinces present single-digit statistics, a record never before achieved in the country.
Raful announced that the operation incorporates the largest promotion of new agents, reaching almost 25 thousand police officers on duty for the Christmas season.
Call to the citizenry
Both the National Police and the Interior Ministry and Police insisted that security also depends on social responsibility:
• Respect business hours
• Do not drive under the influence of alcohol
• Promote peaceful coexistence in communities
“Safety is a shared responsibility. Our team will be on every corner, but the real operation happens in every home where the choice is made to celebrate wisely,” stated Raful.
Active operation 24/7
The National Police Command and Control Center will operate 24 hours a day, with direct communication channels for reports, emergencies, and assistance.
The authorities guaranteed active surveillance in:
• Shopping malls
• Tourist corridors
• Residential areas
• Land, air and sea terminals
• Critical transit points
President Abinader reiterated that the goal is to guarantee “the safest Christmas of our time”, with a present, coordinated, and close State to the citizenry.
