They launch operation “Christmas Peace Guarantee 2.0” to reinforce security during the Christmas season in Santiago

Santiago. – The National Police initiated this Wednesday in Santiago the preventive operation “Christmas Guarantee of Peace 2.0 – 2025″, with the deployment of 2,516 members including police officers and soldiers of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), with the aim of reducing crime and ensuring order during the Christmas season. As part of the plan, patrolling will be increased in the main commercial areas, neighborhoods, and strategic points of the city. The operation will include vans and motorcycles to strengthen the response capacity to any eventuality. The director of the Cibao Central Regional Command, General Juan Bautista Jiménez Reinoso, reported that all personnel assigned to the institution will be on the streets, working to ensure that citizens enjoy these festivities “with peace and tranquility.”

Jiménez Reinoso highlighted progress in security since he took office a year ago, assuring that the homicide rate went from 14.6% to 5.7%, in addition to a sustained decrease in robberies, assaults and other crimes in the demarcation. The launch of the operation took place on the esplanade of the Cibao Central Regional Directorate, located on the grounds of the former Cibao International Airport, with the presence of civil authorities from the province. The mayor of Santiago, Ulises Rodríguez, called on the population to support security actions to achieve a Christmas without violent events and with higher levels of citizen confidence. This operation was presented simultaneously in all regional headquarters of the National Police in the country.
