Santo Domingo.- Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) leader Alfredo Pacheco announced his support for the decisions made by the organization’s senior leadership and stated that, for the moment, his priority is to preserve internal unity.

Pacheco had previously expressed his interest in running for the General Secretariat of the PRM and assured that he had received significant support in polls conducted within the organization. However, he explained that he decided to place party cohesion above his personal aspirations.

The political leader also maintained that his decision is not conditioned on receiving another position within the party.

“I do this without requesting any other position in return and with the firm conviction that the PRM has a responsibility that transcends any of us: to remain monolithically united, to consolidate its organization, and to continue being a governing option at the service of the Dominican Republic,” he expressed.

Pacheco indicated that he will continue working alongside the leadership and the party’s grassroots to contribute to its growth and strengthening.

However, he left open the possibility of resuming his aspiration for the General Secretariat in the upcoming renewal processes of the PRM authorities, scheduled for the next two years.

He specified that he would be willing to submit his candidacy again to the scrutiny of the membership if an open election mechanism through internal primaries is established.

“The PRM has advanced because it has known how to build consensus and place the collective interest above the individual. There are times to aspire and times to prioritize unity. This is a time to strengthen the PRM,” he concluded.
