Panama.- Panamanian authorities reported this Tuesday the seizure of a total of 600 packages of drugs and the arrest of two suspects during two separate operations carried out in a beach area on the Caribbean coast and a port terminal in the Pacific.
The most voluminous shipment, consisting of 530 packages of narcotics, was found hidden in a vessel with a double bottom in Playa Chiquita, on the Costa Arriba of Colón (Caribbean), in a coordinated action between personnel from the Public Ministry’s (MP) anti-drug prosecutor’s office and agents from Panama’s National Aeronaval Service (Senan).
“During the proceeding, two men of Panamanian nationality were apprehended, who will be brought before a Guarantee Judge for the formulation of charges and the application of precautionary measures,” stated an MP press release.
Another stash of 70 drug packages was seized “inside a container with traceability to Germany, transshipment in Panama, and final destination Australia,” in an operation by agents of the National Police (PN) and the Public Ministry (MP) carried out “at a Pacific port,” according to a statement from the security agency.

In Panama, seized drug packages usually weigh approximately one kilogram each, and the illicit substance most seized by authorities is cocaine.

In 2025, Panama seized 129 tons of drugs and 47.8 tons of chemical precursors, according to statistics from the Public Ministry. So far this year, seizures have already exceeded 34 tons.
