Santo Domingo.- The National Police reported this Monday the arrest of a man accused of killing his ex-partner with a bladed weapon and of causing injuries to four other people, in an incident that occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, February 22, in the Primaveral neighborhood, in the sector of Villa Mella, Santo Domingo Norte municipality.
The detainee is Francisco Alcántara Terrero, 48 years old, who was arrested at the scene after being prevented from escaping by community members and police officers.
Meanwhile, the victim was identified as
Ana Luisa Rosario de la Rosa, 52 years old, who died from stab wounds and blows to the head, according to the acting medical examiner.
According to the preliminary report, the incident occurred in the afternoon, inside a house located in block 59 of the aforementioned sector. Witnesses indicated that the victim tried to take refuge in a residence while being pursued by their attacker, who inflicted the wounds that later caused their death.
During the incident, four other people were injured while trying to intervene or when the attacker was trying to flee the scene. The injured have stab wounds and various traumas, so they received medical attention in health centers in the area.
The detainee also has a head wound, presumably caused by residents of the sector who intervened after the act was committed.
The Scientific Police carried out the corresponding investigation at the scene, where evidence was collected. The weapon used was not recovered, so verification work and the review of surveillance cameras are being carried out to determine its whereabouts.
The detainee will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, for the corresponding legal purposes.
