La Vega.– The Public Ministry will request preventive detention against Franklyn José Almánzar Escarramán, 51, accused of practicing dentistry illegally and causing permanent injuries to a woman during a surgical procedure performed at a clinic in La Vega.
In the same case, William Radhamés Almánzar Escarramán, 52, the owner of the establishment where the incident occurred, was arrested and faces charges of alleged complicity.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred on January 17, 2026, when the patient went to the V Centenario Medical Center to undergo the extraction of four third molars. During the procedure, allegedly performed by Franklyn José Almánzar, damages were reportedly caused that resulted in permanent sequelae.

The file indicates that the victim suffered nerve atrophy, moderate facial edema, myofascial pain, right mandibular paresthesia, and other complications, injuries that were certified in a medical report issued on February 5 of this year.
As part of the investigation, the Public Prosecutor’s Office obtained a certification from the Ministry of Public Health stating that Franklyn José Almánzar does not possess an exequatur, an essential requirement to practice dentistry in the country.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office maintains that the facts constitute violations of the Penal Code, the General Health Law 42-01, and the provisions regulating the practice of dentistry in the Dominican Republic.
The request for a coercive measure will be filed after the execution of the arrest warrant issued by Judge Adaías Sánchez Collado, of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of La Vega.
