Police arrest eight people in less than 24 hours during operations in Espaillat and Hermanas Mirabal

The National Police reported that it arrested eight people in less than 24 hours, including individuals with judicial orders and others caught in the act, during operations carried out in the provinces of Espaillat and Hermanas Mirabal. According to the report, four of those arrested were wanted by the justice system. They are Francisco José Portes, Yefry Rojas Santos, Junior Miguel Aybar, and Maximiliano López García, all adults. The first two were arrested in Moca for violation of Law 136-03, while Aybar was arrested in Salcedo for alleged assault and battery, and López García in Villa Tapia for fraud, in violation of articles 379 and 385 of the Dominican Penal Code. Meanwhile, four other men were arrested in the act in the municipality of Moca. These were identified as Alfred Santiago Sánchez Santos, alias “Llave 10”; Juan Espinal Díaz, alias “La Cigarra”; Rafael Antonio Molina Arroyo and Edward Antonio García de Jesús. According to the police report, “Llave 10” and “La Cigarra” were caught aboard a motorcycle without documentation, transporting two sacks with an undetermined amount of bananas, which they admitted to having stolen from a farm.

In another incident, Molina Arroyo was arrested with a cell phone reported as stolen, while García de Jesús was apprehended while driving a vehicle whose previous owner is listed as a fugitive, according to police records. Authorities reported that both the detainees and the seized evidence will be made available to the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal purposes.
