Police arrest 14 people during operations against robberies and scams in Santiago

Santiago. – A total of 14 people were arrested during various operations carried out in the last 72 hours in several sectors of the Santiago province, as part of the preventive and investigative actions executed by the National Police together with the Public Ministry.

The interventions were aimed at clarifying cases related to robberies, fraud, illegal possession of firearms, and other criminal acts. To this end, the authorities carried out raids, executed judicial orders, and followed up on open investigations.

During the operations, firearms and ammunition were seized, in addition to items reported as stolen. A vehicle that had been reported stolen was also located and recovered.

Among those arrested in flagrante delicto is Jordan Capellán, known as “Jordán”, who was detained in the Buenos Aires sector of Los Salados. According to the Police, at the time of his arrest he was in possession of a 9-millimeter caliber pistol with an illegible serial number, a magazine with a 30-round capacity, eight rounds, and a motorcycle.

In another operation, carried out in Pastor Bella Vista, Elvin José Espinal Zarzuela was arrested. According to the authorities, he was found in possession of a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver, with eight rounds and no documentation.

The authorities also carried out arrests through judicial warrants in areas such as Puñal, Villa González, Hoya del Caimito, Los Girasoles, Licey al Medio, San José de las Matas, and Mari López. Several of those detained are being investigated for their alleged connection to various robbery incidents.

Within the fraud investigations, Joel Manuel Sánchez Martínez, Hillary Hacivi Volquez Mateo, and Kimberli Estefani Minaya were arrested. The Police preliminarily identify them for allegedly participating in scams through false offers spread on social media and irregular money transfers, including a case related to phishing.

The institution reported that the detainees and the seized evidence were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal procedures.
