Santo Domingo.– The Public Ministry requested pretrial detention for David Antonio Peña Paulino, known as “Davis,” identified as one of the alleged perpetrators of the robbery that occurred on July 30 at a shopping center in the Piantini sector, National District, where Yhatnna Gelisa Cordero Bello lost her life.
According to the investigation, Peña Paulino allegedly participated along with three other men in the planning and execution of the robbery. Authorities maintain that the defendant drove the vehicle used to transport the assailants, while one of them entered the establishment armed with the intention of robbing a customer identified as Raúl José Pimentel Blanco of his cell phone.
During the incident, Cordero Bello, who was at the scene, asked for help from people who were in a nearby business. At that moment, he was shot, which caused his death, according to the Public Ministry’s file.
The hearing to determine the coercive measure was postponed until next August 7th by decision of Judge Rigoberto Sena, of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the National District, in order to ensure that the defendant has legal defense.

Peña Paulino was arrested last August 3rd in compliance with a judicial warrant. During the operation, authorities seized the car that was allegedly used in the incident, as well as a cell phone. Meanwhile, the Public Prosecutor’s Office continues the search for two other alleged accomplices who remain at large.
