La Romana, D.R. – The Provincial Directorate of Public Health (DPS) of La Romana, headed and directed by Dr. Carmen Jiménez, through an extensive community intervention day carried out in the Villa Verde sector and the municipality of Villa Hermosa.
During the operation, Public Health brigades carried out the distribution of mosquito nets, as well as debris removal and larvicide application in different parts of Villa Verde, with the aim of eliminating breeding sites for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue and other diseases.
As part of this intervention, the institution’s staff also conducted a follow-up visit to a patient residing in the Villa Caoba sector, in Villa Hermosa, reaffirming the commitment to provide timely care and ensure the continuity of epidemiological surveillance actions in the communities.

Dr. Carmen Jiménez highlighted that these sessions are part of the Provincial Health Directorate’s ongoing strategy to prevent vector-borne diseases and protect the health of families in La Romana.
The health institution urged the population to keep yards and surroundings free of containers that accumulate water, to collaborate with health brigades, and to join in preventive measures to avoid the spread of dengue.
