The coordinator of the gambling regularization process, Teófilo José (Quico) Tabar Manzur, warned both businessmen linked to gambling and employees and officials connected to that activity that as soon as the new law is approved, he will propose that all activities carried out outside the limits established in the aforementioned decrees be analyzed and reviewed in detail.

Likewise, he warned that he will suggest the immediate suspension of any decision that implies a change of status in gambling activities, so that they cannot be linked to actions that may eventually be questioned.

The official hopes that, based on the initiative presented by President Luis Abinader to Congress, all activities linked to gambling will begin to be clarified and regulated without restrictions, starting by reviewing and correcting everything that has not complied with the established regulations.

Regarding the discussions on the aforementioned bill taking place in Congress, and about which he understands differences have arisen in some of the articles of said bill due to the very intricacies of the game and evidently due to issues of group interests.

Tabar issued a public statement in which he sets out his position regarding the current bill that seeks to create the General Directorate of Games in the Dominican Republic.

Tabar emphasized that the ultimate goal is to review and correct everything that has not complied with the established regulations, seeking to put an end to years of irregularities permitted by the State, society, and the businessmen themselves.
