Montecristi.– The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, and the director of the National Health Service (SNS), Julio César Landrón, led the delivery of the renovated Dr. Julio Álvarez Acosta municipal hospital, in the municipality of Castañuelas.
The work, executed with an investment exceeding RD$136 million, seeks to strengthen health services in the province of Montecristi and will benefit more than 18 thousand inhabitants of the community.
During the event, Raquel Peña highlighted that the remodeling and construction of the emergency area represent an advance in the strengthening of the public hospital network and in access to quality medical services.
“Each renovated space and each strengthened area represent a concrete response to the needs of the population,” said the vice president.
For his part, Julio César Landrón stated that the SNS continues to develop remodeling and equipment projects in hospitals throughout the country as part of the transformation of the national health system.
The intervention included the general refurbishment of the hospital center and the total construction of the emergency area, equipped with a waiting room, triage, treatment and plaster areas, nebulization room, observation beds and resuscitation boxes.
Also, areas such as consulting rooms, laboratory, operating room, delivery room, hospitalization, neonatal, vaccination and pharmacy were renovated, in addition to improvements in the health system and the exterior infrastructure.
The authorities assured that the work will allow to offer a more dignified, modern and timely care to the residents of Castañuelas and nearby communities.
