Raquel Peña participates in Capex business meeting and highlights future vision for DR

Santiago.– The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, attended this Tuesday’s business lunch “Building the Future from the Business Vision”, organized by the Center for Innovation and Professional Training (Capex), and which had as main guest the founder of the Puntacana Group, Frank Rainieri. 

Upon her arrival, the vice president highlighted that the meeting represents a valuable space to reflect on the economic future of the country from the experience and vision of business leaders who have contributed to transforming strategic sectors of the Dominican Republic.  “Rainieri is a great man from the Dominican Republic who comes to transmit his experience and how he also sees the future of the Dominican Republic,” Peña stated to the press. The Vice President also addressed the international economic context and stated that the government of President Luis Abinader maintains a permanent monitoring of global scenarios, promoting measures aimed at protecting economic stability and the most vulnerable sectors of the population. The business meeting was conceived as a space to generate conversations about leadership, innovation, development, and growth opportunities for the country, taking as a reference the trajectory and experience of Frank Rainieri in the consolidation of one of the most important tourism projects in the region. During his speech, Rainieri shared reflections on the beginnings of Punta Cana and the challenges he faced to develop the project in an area that then lacked infrastructure and connectivity.

“Some call it opportunity, others call it luck; I call it vision”, expressed the tourism entrepreneur when referring to the determination that drove the development of Punta Cana. Rainieri also highlighted that the growth achieved has been the result of constant work, the ability to adapt and the construction of strategic alliances, insisting that sustainable development requires planning, trust and long-term commitment.  Furthermore, he urged the Dominican private sector to continue betting on areas with high potential for the country, such as manufacturing, the pharmaceutical industry, agricultural industrialization, and national production with added value. From his side, the president of the Board of Directors of Funcapex, Miguel Lama, acknowledged Rainieri’s career and valued his impact on the transformation of Dominican tourism and on the international projection of the country. The activity, held at the Dominican UTESA Convention and Culture Center, brought together businessmen, representatives of the productive sector, authorities and leaders from different national sectors.
