Havana, Cuba.– The prominent Cuban actress Paula Alí, one of the most iconic figures of television, film, radio, and theater on the island, passed away this Monday in Havana at the age of 90, as reported by the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).
The performer, born in 1936, was recognized on July 22nd with the 2026 National Television Award, in recognition of an artistic career that spanned more than six decades and left a deep mark on Cuban culture.
Through a statement, UNEAC expressed its sorrow over the passing of the actress and highlighted that Paula Alí was “one of the most emblematic and beloved figures of Cuban show business,” whose legacy will remain in the memory of generations of viewers.
The cultural organization further noted that his departure leaves an “immense void in the culture of the largest of the Antilles,” while recalling his valuable contribution to the country’s performing and audiovisual arts.
