Representative Leivi Bautista highlights the impact of the “Plastics for Toys” program on environmental education

Santo Domingo. The deputy for Santo Domingo Oeste, Leivi Bautista, participated in the sixth edition of the program “Plásticos por Juguetes”, organized by the Mayor’s Office of the National District, where she highlighted the social and educational value of this initiative that seeks to create environmental awareness in children.

During his intervention, Bautista described the activity as highly positive and highlighted the leadership of Mayor Carolina Mejía in the implementation of programs that combine environmental care with children’s joy. “It is an initiative that raises awareness in the children of our capital and the country, and that we hope can be replicated in other municipalities,” he said. The legislator emphasized that, thanks to this program, more than “33 million plastic bottles” have been collected, contributing significantly to the protection of the environment. Likewise, she urged other municipalities and public officials to promote similar initiatives.

“We take care of the environment and, at the same time, bring joy to our children by exchanging plastics for toys,” he said. The deputy also referred to the social activities carried out in Santo Domingo Oeste on the occasion of Three Kings’ Day, noting that these allow her to get closer to children from low-income families and ensure that they can receive a toy on such a special date. In other news, Bautista positively valued the recent appointment of Gloria Reyes to the Ministry of Women, highlighting her career, management skills, and commitment to Dominican women.
