Santo Domingo East.- The City Council of Santo Domingo East (ASDE), together with state security agencies, has activated an inter-institutional traffic, protection, and assistance operation to ensure the success of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, with special attention to the sports delegations, athletes, referees, and visitors who will be in the municipality.
The authorities established mobility routes to guarantee the safe transport of the more than 6,000 athletes housed in the Central American and Caribbean Village of Ciudad Juan Bosch to the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center and the Parque del Este, using 30 de Junio Avenue as the main route, with a connection to Las Américas Highway and 25 de Febrero Avenue, and the Ecológica Avenue as an alternate route.
The information was provided during the monthly meeting of the Security, Citizenship, and Gender Roundtable, led by Mayor Dío Astacio and held in the lobby of the “Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez” Municipal Palace, where representatives from the Ministry of Interior and Police, the National Police, the Armed Forces, DIGESETT, INTRANT, the Ministry of Public Health, the Fire Department, the Civil Defense, the Municipal Police, and the Organizing Committee of the games participated to coordinate the security, traffic, and assistance plan that will be executed for the sporting event.
Mayor Dío Astacio stated that the municipality is prepared to receive the sports delegations and called on the citizenry to cooperate with the security and traffic measures that will be implemented to ensure the success of the sporting event.
“We are working in a coordinated manner to ensure your safety, efficient mobility, and that every citizen becomes a good host for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games,” stated Astacio.

The director of the Municipal Police, Colonel Juan Ramón Aquino, also reported that España Avenue will be temporarily closed on July 31st, and August 1st and 3rd, due to triathlon and cycling competitions, for which he urged residents of nearby sectors and drivers to use alternate routes and follow the instructions of traffic authorities.
The authorities specified that the security of the event will be the responsibility of the Organizing Committee of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, with the support of the National Police, the Armed Forces, DIGESETT, INTRANT, and the Santo Domingo Este City Council, which will have the role of providing logistical support and guiding the public regarding vehicular restrictions.
For her part, Julissa Burgos highlighted that for several months the city council has been working on the conditioning of public spaces, parks, green areas, and roads in the municipality to welcome athletes and visitors. She recalled that the Parque del Este maintains vehicular access restrictions due to preparations for the competitions and that most of the disciplines that will take place in that facility will be free of charge, subject to prior electronic registration.

Meanwhile, the intendant of the Santo Domingo Este Fire Department and president of the National Association of Firefighters, Roberto Santos Méndez, reported that the institution will deploy units at strategic points in the municipality to guarantee an emergency response in less than five minutes in the Villa Centroamericana, the Parque del Este, and areas with the highest concentration of the public.
Also, representatives of the Ministry of Public Health reported that doctors and personnel from the Risk Management Department will be distributed in the Central American Village and other sports venues to offer healthcare assistance to athletes, delegations, and visitors.
