On the afternoon of this Sunday, June 14, 2026, a violent incident was recorded in the municipality of Nagua, María Trinidad Sánchez province, where Sergeant Gerson Núñez Rosario lost his life after receiving multiple gunshot wounds.
The incident occurred on a bench located in the Cuatro Vientos sector of the aforementioned town. According to preliminary information, the officer was allegedly shot by Julio Francisco Núñez Villa, who reportedly fled the scene after the incident.
According to available data, Núñez Rosario had previously been involved in an incident that occurred on May 7, 2026, related to the same young man identified as the alleged aggressor, in which the latter was seriously injured after being shot.
