Six people are injured by fireworks during New Year’s Eve in Puerto Rico
San Juan, Puerto Rico.— At least six people were injured by the use of pyrotechnics during New Year’s Eve celebrations in different municipalities of Puerto Rico, the local Police reported.
Among those affected is a minor of 11 years old, who suffered the amputation of his right hand after an accident with fireworks in an urbanization in the municipality of Trujillo Alto, near San Juan.
The child was immediately taken by his parents to the emergency room of the San Juan Medical Center, where he received specialized medical attention. The authorities called on the public to take extreme safety measures and avoid accidents with fireworks, especially among minors.

The Police will continue to monitor the festivities and reinforce surveillance to prevent incidents related to the use of fireworks during the coming days.
