Santo Domingo.– Ahead of the start of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, the executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Dr. Julio Landrón, led a supervisory tour of the Dr. José Joaquín Puello General Teaching Hospital, where he assured that the Public Health Services Network is prepared to respond in a timely manner to any eventuality that may arise with athletes, delegations, or visitors during the sporting event.
Accompanied by the center’s management team, Landrón toured the Emergency, Tomography, Sonography, and other strategic service areas to verify operational capacity, availability of equipment, supplies, and health personnel.
During the tour, the head of the SNS reiterated that the public health system has the necessary resources to guarantee efficient and humanized care during the celebration of the games.
“We are ready to face any eventuality that may arise with the athletes, delegations, or visitors who will be in the country. Our commitment is to offer a quick, quality, and humanized response to guarantee the health of everyone during this important international event,” he expressed.
Likewise, he instructed hospital authorities to keep critical areas stocked and to immediately request any additional supplies or equipment that may be necessary.

The director of the SNS highlighted that, in parallel, the institution continues to strengthen the response capacity of the Public Network with the expansion of hospital and intensive care beds, especially in Greater Santo Domingo, as well as with the strengthening of specialized human resources.
The supervision is part of the preparedness plan implemented by the National Health Service to ensure that the hospitals in the Public Network are in optimal conditions and can provide efficient medical assistance during the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
Supervises future Mental Health area
As part of the day’s activities, Dr. Landrón also inspected the future Mental Health area of the José Joaquín Puello Hospital, where he evaluated the pending adjustments and the equipment required for its commissioning, with the purpose of continuing to strengthen the portfolio of services offered by the health center.
